Meeting new people is exciting, but we want you to be safe. Read these tips before you start chatting or meeting up.
Online Safety
- Never send money: Never send money or financial information, no matter how sad or urgent the story sounds.
- Keep conversations on Strings: Bad actors often try to move the chat to SMS or WhatsApp immediately. Stay on the app where our filters can protect you.
- Protect personal info: Don't share your home address, work address, or daily routine details until you really know someone.
Meeting In Person
- Meet in public: Always meet for the first time in a populated, public place—never at a private home or secluded area.
- Tell a friend: Inform a friend or family member of your plans, including who you are meeting, where, and when.
- Stay in control: Be in charge of your own transportation. Don't rely on your date to pick you up or drop you off.
Reporting Bad Behavior
If you encounter someone who violates our guidelines, don't hesitate to report them. It's anonymous and helps keep the community safe.
